Friday Fun: Cards for Men

Hi folks,

Today I’m going to share some masculine cards that I have made. I have taken a traditional  colour palette of blue and white and made it less boyish by swapping the white for cream and using a navy Blue:

These are 6×6″ square cards. I have embossed the navy blue layer to add dimension without bulk and used silver thread for interest.

I made the image panel triangular instead of square and added some dewdrop embellishments.

Thank you for stopping by folks, take care and Happy Crafting!

Jenny 🙂

Friday Fun: Handmade Valentine Cards

Hi folks,

I hope that you are have all been having some fun and crafty times 🙂

Todays make is in preparation for Valentines day. I do like valentines Day – I like to send a card to friends and family members to let them I’m thinking about them, ( just in case they forget 🙂 ), including the tiny tots as they love receiving cards.

This batch of four cards has been inspired by the patterned paper that I have used – a magazines free gift:

I like the Pink and Green colour scheme as it feels fresh and spring like. The pink ribbon came from gift packaging which I managed to quarter at just the right size. I used nearly all the items I laid out although I decided not to use the embossing folder for an inside strip .

Below is a picture tutorial of the card making process:

Any questions please ask away.

Take care and Happy Crafting,

Jenny 🙂

Masculine Make Monday: Blues.

Hi Folks,

Todays Card is a feast of Blues with Silver heat embossing for added fun:

wp-1484857416122.jpg

I’ve used layers of coordinating Blue panels including a Blue patterned paper. It’s an easy card to put together yet looks good with the simple embellishments.

The base is a C6 card base: 10.5cm x 14.8cm with the dark Blue layer being 1cm smaller in height and width: 9.5cm x 13.8cm. The patterned layer is a half cm smaller: 9cm x 13.3cm.

The sentiment is heat embossed in Silver with matching card ‘candi’ punched from the same pale blue card.

Thank you for stopping by,

Take Care and Happy Crafting,

Jenny 🙂

Friday Fun: Washi Tape Cards

This is a post that I thought id scheduled a while ago but accidently saved it to drafts instead, whoops!!

Hi folks,

Today I’d like share some cards that solved a problem for me. A hoarding problem. A ‘hoarding lots of Washi tape’ problem!

I did, and still do, love washi tape.

I did, ahem and still do, have lots of rolls of it lol!

So I decided to use some Washi tape that I had had for quite a while. Oh I had used bits of it here and there but it was just to pretty to use!! Then, the ‘Quandry’ happened. I had run out of room for storing Washi tape. Now I am very strict, mostly that is, when it comes to allotted storage space. Once a storage space is full I feel that it has reached the stock allowance limit 🙂

The solution? Make cards with it lol. Finally, the reason I purchased said washi tape was to be fulfilled!!

I chose coordinating tapes and kept the bases simple white:

Masculine Make Monday: Hexagons!

Hi there folks,

I hope that you are enjoying a fabulous crafty time 🙂

Today I’m sharing a handmade card which is designed for the male folk in our lives.

I have a lot of paint swatch strips that I have collected over the last few years, I wanted to put them to good use. So I spent an evening with two punches, a hexagon punch and a small butterfly punch. I then went to town on the sample strips, punching out many shapes from a large variety of colours.

I knew that I wanted to make a male card using the hexagons and here is what I came up with:

wp-1484857415942.jpg

I lay out the hexagons that I had chosen to use and adhered them to a white card panel.

I chose white as I wanted the colours to pop. The card base is 300gsm, half a sheet of standard A4 and measures 10.5cm wide and is scored at 14.8cm. Each panel is then a half centre smaller in both height and width than the previous one.

I wanted to add dimension without the bulk of foam pads – three layers achieves this quite nicely I think. This is great for reducing postage costs 🙂

Here is the finished project:

I added a thin strip of black card to edge the hexagon pattern and stamped a simple greeting from a Lawn Fawn stamp set. I also added some white Nuvo Drops for accent details – I used white to keep the focus on the bright hexagons.

Here is the inside of the card plus the envelope :

I used a hexagon stamp set by Stampin’ up – it may now be retired but it suited this project perfectly.

Thank you for your time and for stopping by 🙂

‘Big Day’ Birthday Card

Hi folks,

I hope that you are having some fun and crafty times 🙂

Todays share is a super sparkly creation that I have made using ‘left overs’ from other projects. I have kept it simple using complimentary colours and layers:

wp-1484857415757.jpg

I started by using a light blue card for a base; This was made from half a sheet of A4 card the other half was used for a different project. I had strips and panels collected from cards that I had made over Christmas and put them to good use here.

I then stamped the image with a coordinating ink – both the ink and the card base are by Stampin’ Up! in the colour Soft Sky – as the ink stays wet for a short while, I was able to add clear embossing powder to it. It gives it nice dimension and adds extra detail:

I coloured in the word ‘CAKE’ with a clear Wink of Stella glitter pen. You could always use mica powders or a glitter glue pen instead.

In the above photo you can see the layers. These add dimension without extra bulk, which is great for keeping postal costs down! I punched three small circles to make my own ‘Candi’ embellishments.

Of course I decorated the inside of the card and the envelope too:

I again used the Clear glitter pen to add extra sparkle 🙂

Here is the finished project:

Take care and happy crafting,

Switched Up Sunday: Five Minute Wreath

Hi Folks,

In my last post I shared a decorative Christmas Wreath in White with Green accents. This time I’m sharing a wreath which literally only took me five minutes to make 🙂

wp-1481323478424.jpgwp-1481323478463.jpgwp-1481323478578.jpg

My daughter wanted a simple but decorative wreath to hang on her bedroom door. I took what I had in the house and this is what I did:

  1. I took a spare metal wreath that I had left over from the previous project. If I hadn’t had one of these, I would have cut a ring shape out of cardboard for the base.
  2. I asked my daughter to choose from the tinsel we had for decorating the house – she chose the above white and silver strand.
  3. I tucked one end of the tinsel under itself and then wrapped the rest around the ring and tucked the other end in to make it secure.
  4. I then asked my daughter to choose a ribbon for the hanging loop which I attached by knotting the ends together and threading itself on the wreath through the loop I made.
  5. I made a bow out of the same ribbon and attached it with adhesive foam pads.
  6. For the final touch I looped a hanging star decoration onto the top of the wreath so it dangled in the centre.
  7. All done!!

A very quick but pretty and decorative project I think you’ll agree!

See you next time,

Take Care and happy crafting!!

Jenny 🙂
