Cat Talk Birthday Card

Hi Crafty folks,

Today I like to share a lovely card I’ve made using a stamp set called ‘Animal Talk’ by Stampin’ Up!. I believe this set is now retired from the annual catalogues however you may be able to find one on places like eBay et cetera.

So here is a picture of the card I made:

I chose this Aqua, black and white colour scheme so that the card would be gender and age neutral. I also just love this colour combination as the black makes both the aqua and white pop off the page.

I decided to concentrate on colourblocking with just a small amount of pattern to add texture and interest. Layering simple shapes and panels makes this card interesting without being overwhelming:

I also decided to add a layer of shimmer to the Black cat for fun interest and I also drew on the cat’s face with raised a gel pen – this cat is so very cute!

Here inside of the card:

I’m pleased with how this card turned out. It’s a little quirky and fun whilst being suitable for both male and female recipients and also great for both children and adults.

Thank you for stopping by today – I appreciate you taking the time to come over. I would love to hear what your most recent crafting makes are so please share your stories in the comments below.

Thanks again,

Take care and happy crafting!

Friday Fun – Purple Parrots

Hi once again Crafty Folk,

I’m glad that you have popped by today and I hope that you too have been able to enjoy some fun crafting time?

Todays project share is one of my favourite projects that I have ever made and here is why – It involves PARROTS!!

I love Birds and all winged creatures, both real and fantasy, so using the Bird Banter stamp set by Stampin’ Up! has been delightful!

So, here we go :

Step one: The gathering of materials-

temp-28

Stamp set chosen, ink at the ready and so is the coordinating paper. I used a paper pack and a 6”x6” card in purples by Dovecraft called ‘Berry Blush’:

The next step was to start the stamping process. I started with a branch and then added the Parrot pairs, (see photo captions):

The next part of the process was  to spend time using my Promarkers to colour in these gorgeous birds. After all of the stamped birds were coloured, it was time to die cut the stamped panels with a circle die and my die cutting machine:

I used a circle die that also added a stitched edge for added texture and dimension.

Now the main element panel was ready, it became time to layer the papers onto the card bases:

I am totally in love with these papers. Purples are one of my most favourite colours!

….and now for the finished result!:

Well there we are! The last and final thing that I did was to add some Wink of Stella shimmer, in clear, to selected parts of the parrots beaks or head plumage. I love the touches of yellow – it really pops!

I totally adored making these cards and I shall be sharing a project in the near future that uses the same colour palette.

Thank you very much for stopping by.

As always, if you have any questions then please ask away via the comments option.

Take Care and Happy Crafting!

Friday Fun – Floral Freebies

Hi there Crafty Folks,

I hope that you are all well and are enjoying some fun crafty times?

For this instalment of Friday Fun I shall be sharing a large collection of cards that I have created using a free gift from a magazine – a card stack of floral print’s. The print’s came in a variety of sizes and designs which I wanted to remain as the focus of each card.

I kept the card simple by layering each image panel onto a coordinating panel of coloured card. Some images I added shimmer to with Wink of Stella and others I used glossy accents to achieve a glass effect on the vases:

I also added some heat embossed sentiments:

So, lets take a look at the complete set:

I hope that you have enjoyed your visit today. Any questions about today’s project then please ask in the comments – I love hearing your views too!

Until next time, Take care and Happy crafting!

Switched Up Sunday – Congrats Cards

Hi folks,

How are you all today?

Today I’d like to share a switched up project that utilises items that had been previously  used for a different project. The item that I switched was the patterned paper – it had been previously made into a paper envelope:

temp-84

The items in the photo above, except the twine and cream card, were originally sent to me as a customer thank you gift from Sam Hammond Donald aka Pootles.com. I had had them quite a while and still hadn’t used them so I decided to Switch them up!

temp-77

So here are some photos showing the cards details:

As the paper itself is double-sided it offered multiple options. By keeping it simple and layering the patterns onto cream card the overall effect is cohesive and elegant. I also added some previously punched out leaves and flowers and double layered, die cut greetings.

I very much enjoy these types of projects and I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you for stopping by, I look forward to your next visit!

Take care and Happy crafting,

Jenny

Masculine Make Monday: ‘Nephew’ Card

JenniferRabbitCreates

Hi Crafty Folks,

I hope that you are doing well and that you have been enjoying some fun and crafty times?

Todays card was inspired by a popular, multi-platform computer game called Fortnite – you may know someone,( or be someone!), who is obsessed with this game. The recipient of todays card is one of said fans and it was for his Fourteenth Birthday.

So, here goes:

temp-75

This card has multi layers, each one inspired by an aspect from Fortnite.

The wood grain texture was achieved by using an embossing folder and adding a darker ink lightly with a blending brush or tool. This represents the building aspect from the game – you build structures to defend yourself or to create high vantage points to locate competitors:

Next is the brick texture which was achieved in the same way plus some light sanding as I used Colour core cardstock.

The topper elements – the crates and balloons – represent the aid drops that occur throughout the game.

I added a plaque shape with some die cut grass as a centre point and layered the topper elements on top. I added some die cut clouds and a sentiment panel to finish:

temp-74

As the game is set outdoors I choose natural colours and used colour pops for the balloons and crate elements.

Of course I decorated the cards interior:

temp-70

The Llama is an icon from the game. If you find one whilst gaming you get a great reward. I printed off a stock image and backed it with strong card. I then topped it onto a strong strip of card and created a removable bookmark 🙂

I thoroughly enjoy making themed cards as they especially speak to the recipient.

I hope that you have enjoyed popping by today. I’d love to hear from you so please comment away, nicely of course!

Take Care folks and Happy Crafting!!
